Gablette Spotlight: Talia Marino class of 1999
Talia Marino, a Miami native, began her dance training in ballet and jazz at the age of 6 training at The Miami Conservatory, Ballet Academy of Miami and with Maximum Dance Company. Her passion for dance years later lead her to pursue a degree in dance education from Florida International University with a minor is Sociology. During her time at the University, and in addition to dancing, she also competed in the Miss America System and the Miss USA system in which she won 3 titles.
After Graduation, she taught in numerous prestigious Dance Studios in the Miami, Fl as well as being the dance team coach for Gulliver Academy in Miami. During her tenure as a teacher she became top 25 female on So You Think You Think You Can Dance. She then realized how much she missed the stage and went back into entertainment, moved to Los Angeles, CA where she was a performer in The Toledo Show, Charo’s Back-Up dancer, and was seen in the promo for Nip Tuck Season 6 working with award winning choreographer Marguerite Derricks. During her new adventure, she developed a love for Aerial Arts.
In 2009 she was selected as a feature dancer and aerialist for the original cast of the newest Las Vegas Cirque du Soleil production, Viva Elvis. She was elated to be working with Vincent Patterson, Bonnie Story, Allister Booth and later on Napoleon and Tabitha on this creation. She was invited to perform on Dancing with the Starts, So You think You Can Dance, Jerry Lewis Telethon, Strictly Come Dancing in England, and is in the Newest Cirque du Soleil’s 3D movie “Worlds Away” as a showgirl. Not only was she a feature dancer, but during her tenure with Cirque she explored more in the art of aerial movement as she was featured in a specific aerial act, Spin Poles, that was created specifically for the Viva Elvis production as well as learning and perfecting the wedding night ring duo act.
After the closing of Viva Elvis, she began teaching The Barre Method at Barre Las Vegas and worked as an aerialist and dancer at The Act Las Vegas in the Palazzo; as well as freelancing in Las Vegas specifically aerial work.
Talia then moved to Macau to be the feature Aerialist/Speciality Act, Acrobatic Pole and Aerial Hoop, for Franco Dragone Entertainment Group in the newest show, Taboo. She finished her contract in October and traveled throughout Hong Kong and Mainland China performing her art forms as well as over seas to South Africa.
Recently Talia has rejoined with Cirque du Soleil again for the MJ Immortal World Tour that will be Touring North America and Mexico in 2014 as the Feature Pole Act Back-up as well as a dancer. She will continue her love for Pole and Aerial Hoop while on tour with the hopes to compete at the beginning of 2015 in Pole.
